A DREAM LENS MEDIA FILM
Grasslands are the #1 most endangered ecosystem in North America. While non-profits are working hard to protect and preserve the land, private /commercial agriculture plays a crucial role in the future success or destruction of these ecosystems.
Bison are important in protecting and preserving our grasslands. Almost lost forever in the 1880's, ranchers played a crucial role in their preservation. 98% of them are now owned by private ranchers. Restoring bison herds to native grasslands prevents invasive species growth and keeps the ecosystem in balance.
Not only are bison good for environmental sustainability but they're also an extremely healthy food source when raised right. Big food has made it increasingly harder to know where your food is coming from and whether or not it is good for you. Private ranchers, committed to holistic management and producing a healthy product are crucial in restoring authenticity to the food space and preserving the species.
BECOMING THE SOLUTION
Jon Sepp and Brittany Masters are the epitome of what it means to pursue a fulfilling, passion-filled life. Jon bought Roam Free ranch after years as a parachute test pilot in the military. Brittany left her corporate marketing job, where she was the youngest executive in her company, to pursue a life she felt would hold more meaning. Together they launched Roam Free Ranch in western Montana.
Recently leasing an additional 10,000 acres of land, they are building fence by hand, reseeding the land to mirror its original grassland and holistically raising bison. Their longterm goal is to restore the land and build up their bison herd while offering a healthy, holistic food product, bison bites.
They believe sustainable agriculture and producing a holistic meat option are crucial to restoring and protecting the environment.
Roam Free is a film that explores and highlights Jon and Brittany's journey as they push their entrepreneurial dreams forward. Their story is one of grit, determination and commitment to producing a healthy holistic food product while taking care of the land.
Roam Free will explore why private ranchers are a crucial part of the equation in restoring our grasslands and building the bison population through holistic management. We'll highlight what the ranch is up against and the struggles that come with their work as well as the joy and excitement of living their dreams and becoming part of the solution.
The film will also give viewers tangible ways to find and make holistic food choices that are not only healthy for them but good for the environment.
